Cafeteria Balance (posted 02/23/2006)

When you go to look at the cafeteria section of the ParentConnection. Check carefully the balance. If the balance is enclosed in parentheses ( ) then the balance is a NEGATIVE balance and money is DUE to bring the account back to a zero or POSITIVE balance. If the balance on the account IS NOT enclosed in parentheses ( ) then the balance is a positive balance and the student HAS money in their account. You can also double check this by looking at the amount paid and amounts charged. If the amounts charged are greater than the amounts paid...then the balance will be a negative balance because more food was eaten than was paid for.

My Child has a grade for a class but under the assignments section is says "NO ASSIGNMENTS AVAILABLE." (posted 02/15/2006)

The default view for assignments is the "last week" and the "next week." If an assignment date does not fall within this range it will not be shown on the default view. You will need to scroll all the way up on the page and select "View All Assignments." This will allow you to view all assignments from the beginning of the school year.

Why are certain assignments in RED TYPE? (posted 01/30/2006)

Assignments that appear in RED are assignments that have a DUE DATE that has passed but no grade has been entered in the Grade Book. This could happen for various reasons. Please contact the teacher of that class for more information. Example: A homework assignment has a due date in the grade book of 01/30/2006...the current date is 02/12/2006. If no grade has been entered for this assignment, the assignment will appear in red faced type.

If I apply for an account and I have children in different schools, how do I know which school to go to to pick up my account information? (posted 12/12/2005)

If you have applied for an account and have children in different schools you should pick up the account information in the school in which your YOUNGEST child attends. For instance, if you applied for an account and have children in both the Middle School and the High School. You would pick up the information for both children in the Middle School.

Why is the grade in the teacher's gradebook not current? (posted 11/01/2005)

Each school updates their grades differently. Please see below for a listing of the expectations for each building.

Quincy High School- To help ensure that the grades posted on this site are accurate and timely, teachers will be updating the grade book "in a reasonable amount of time." This may mean that an assignment that takes a longer time to grade may take a longer time to be posted than an assignment that can be graded quickly.

Quincy Middle School- The teachers are required to have their gradebooks updated no later than 3:00pm EVERY Monday. This ensures that the gradebook is not more than a week out of date. Teachers frequently update the gradebook but you can be sure the grade is accurate every Monday evening.

The best resolution to a grade problem is to contact the teacher of the class. There are many reasons why a grade may not be posted and many questions can be answered through contact with the teacher.

How can I obtain my ID number and password? (posted 10/15/2005)

You Must apply for an account online. From here the school district will process the information and get back to you via email. After you have received an email stating that your account has been created. You must come in and present a photo ID for verification purposes in order to receive your account information.

Why do I have to show a photo ID? (posted 10/15/2005)

The reason we require a photo ID is so that we can prove that you are who you are. We do not want to give someone access to your students personal and important information accidentally. This prevents us from giving an account to someone who should not have access. We apologize as this may cause a little inconvenience but it is for the protection of our students and your children!

Do I have to have more than one login if I have kids in multiple schools? (posted 10/15/2005)

NO. You only need one login to access all your children regardless of what school they attend. On your application, make sure that you list ALL of your children and then we can do it the first time you apply. If you need to add children later you will need to fill out a change form.

Windows XP Users: Service Pack 2 includes a Pop-Up blocker for Internet Explorer that is turned on by default. You may enable Pop-Ups from the ParentConnection site by adding the URL to the "Address of Web Sites to Allow" box from the Tools > Pop-Up Blocker > Pop-Up Blocker Settings menu options.

All Users: check your security settings and look for multiple Pop-Up Blockers. Pop-Up windows must be allowed.

Troubleshooting

I can login, but nothing seems to happen. (posted 10/15/2005)

Pop-Up blocking software may Prevent ParentConnection from working. Before you use Pop-Up blocker software you should learn how to select sites that should not be blocked such as ParentConnection! Windows XP Service Pack 2 installs a Pop-Up blocker. Other common free Pop-Up blockers are included with Yahoo and Google Toolbars. We are sorry, but we can not provide assistance with turning your pop-up blocking software off.
